Patricia

Picture
Patricia is your friendly neighborhood scientist-to-be. She got her start in research during her undergraduate years at California State University - Fullerton. She spent a year working as a test prep teacher and administrative assistant in Orange County, CA, and that's where she found her passion for communicating science to a broader audience (and that public speaking is still really scary, but totally rewarding). Right now she's chasing her Ph.Dreams at the University of Maryland at College park, and is an active leader for her campus' science policy group. Naturally a hermit, but still love being social, you can find Patricia trail biking, social dancing, or kayaking.

Kotiba

Originally from Iraq, Kotiba Malek was raised in Malaysia before attending high school at the United World College in Canada. After completing the International Baccalaureate program there, he pursued an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Kenyon College in Ohio. Post-graduation, Kotiba served as an Advanced EMT and firefighter for Kenyon College and surrounding townships. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering at the University of Maryland where he is researching the effects of atmospheric aerosols on climate change.
